Our gentle beautiful boy was taken from us tragically, and our family is experiencing devastating heartbreak and unimaginable pain from this sudden loss.
Zack was born on August 10,2001 and was deeply loved by his parents Pat and Rudy along with his loving protective brothers, Quinn (Arianne) and Bryce (Laure), Paul and Sharon Hatfield, his maternal grandparents, Peter and Sandra Hagias; Thea Kathy(Tony) Liounis, Theo Greg Hagias, Thea Maria Revelas, Thea Voula (Nick) Portokalis, Thea Toula (Peter) McGrath, auntie Fran Zawada, uncle Dan Zawada, uncle Doug Andrews (Michelle) and many cousins. Predeceased by his paternal grandparents Eva and Bill Zawada and auntie Betty Prosser.
Zack was truly a kind and gentle soul with a huge heart. He saw the world through his own unique perspective and chose to live life at his own pace following his own path. Zack experienced life fully in the moment, embracing every experience with curiosity and sincerity. In his own quiet way, he reminded those around him to slow down, appreciate the little things, and cherish the present moment. He had a soft spot for those who were struggling, always making time to listen to someone’s story, offer a helping hand, or share guidance when it was needed most. Zack cared deeply for others and had a quiet way of making people feel seen, understood, and accepted without judgement.
Zack had many talents and gifts. He was creative - drawing, writing, gardening, photography and creating pottery that reflected his thoughtful and gentle spirit. He loved making homemade gifts for special occasions and took great care in creating beautiful cards filled with heartfelt messages that touched people deeply.
Zack enjoyed the outdoors immensely. Whether he was downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, speed skating, track running, trail running, or hiking, nature was where he felt most at peace. The mountains, trails, and open air were truly his happy place- a place where he felt free, grounded and fully himself.
To all the families and community members whose lives this beautiful boy has touched, come celebrate Zack at the Bill Warren Training Centre, 1995 Olympic Way, Canmore, AB on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Service at 4pm followed by light fares. (Zack would love it if you came casually dressed) In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to either the Homelessness Society of the Bow Valley or The Mustard Seed in Calgary in Zack’s honour.
