Márti Yvonne Przibislawsky

With heavy hearts we announce that Márti passed away on the morning of December 24th, with family by her side. Márti will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jean-Pierre, son Johann, step-sons Ivannoé (Ayano), Matéo (Tori), sisters Judy (Jeremy) and Csilla (Lindsay, Mia), many loving relatives in Budapest, Hungary and many loving extended family and friends in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Canmore, Alberta. Márti was predeceased by her mother Éva, father László, and brother László.

Márti had an ebulliance for life that inspired all who knew her. Her smile and laugh filled every room, and her generosity of spirit will live on in all of us. Of her long list of accomplishments, Márti was a high-performance gymnast in her youth in Winnipeg then went on to become an accomplished rock climber, moving to Canmore to live her passion for climbing, and engaging with the natural beauty all around her. Márti could do anything that she set her mind and heart to, and enjoyed sports on water, on rock, on wheels and on snow together with Jean-Pierre, the boys and many, many friends. Márti started the Canmore Illusions Gymnastics Club in 1994, where she was head coach until the birth of her son Johann in 2007. She also had an incredible gift for languages, speaking, reading and writing in Hungarian and French almost as proficiently as in English. Márti, also gifted at teaching, will be remembered as beloved and loving teacher to several generations of students who she taught in grades kindergarten to grade 5 french immersion as well as francophone schools in Winnipeg, then Canmore and Banff over the course of her 3 decades of teaching. Márti had a tenacity and strength that she applied to everything in her life. A tenacity that was only matched by her love for Jean-Pierre and her beloved Jancsika, Matéo, and Ivannoé. She will be dearly missed by the scores of people who loved her, and will be remembered for the special connection she had with each of us.

There will be a celebration of life in Márti’s honour in Canmore in January and in Winnipeg in April, 2026, with dates and locations yet to be determined.
