Julianne Nicole Porter-Koteles, lovingly known as Julie or Jewels, passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 48, following a brief illness.

Julie was predeceased by her beloved father, Alfred (Alf) Porter, and mother, Virginia (Ginny) Robb. She is also survived by her stepfather, Willie Robb, stepmother, Wendy Porter, and father- and mother-in-law, Garry and Gale Koteles.

Julie will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband and soulmate, Paul Koteles; her sister, Lori Lariviere; stepsisters, Mandi (Jamie) Brandt and Jodi (Steve) Pold; stepbrother, Geoff (Corrine) Robb; and sisters-in-law, Kara Koteles (JJ Wyllie) and Andrea Koteles.

She was a proud Auntie to her nieces and nephews, Logan Lariviere, Lilah and Winnie Brandt, and Charlie and Penny Wyllie. She will also be deeply missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends in both Banff and Sault Ste. Marie, whose lives she touched and with whom she shared countless memories.

Although her life was cut far too short, Julie lived her life to the absolute fullest. She was hardworking, energetic, always busy trying new things, and making memories along the way. Whether camping, snowboarding, fishing, golfing, dogsledding or just enjoying the outdoors, Julie embraced every opportunity to have fun and experience life.

Julie was, without a doubt, the best dog momma. Her love for dogs was immeasurable and inspired her to start her own business, Crazy Dog Lady Banff. Every dog in her care was treated with the same love, affection, and devotion she gave her own.

Julie had a special gift for bringing people together. Her home, affectionately known as "Chateau Dog Fur," was always a welcoming place filled with warmth, laughter, incredible food, and plenty of four-legged company. Every one of her famously themed occasions came with an extraordinary amount of preparation, creativity, and attention to detail. Embracing everyone, making people feel welcome and creating special memories for those she loved was big part of who Jewels was.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will have an opportunity to come together to remember, honour, and celebrate the incredible life of Julie (Jewels).
