Helen Hughes

On December 19, 2021 Helen Hughes, long-time resident of Canmore passed away in St. Martha's Place in Banff where she has been a resident for the past year, at the age of 91 years.

Helen was a former teacher both in Canmore and Banff for many years. After retirement she enjoyed the mountains, having lived in the Bow Valley since 1969. She loved walking, no matter the weather and hiked almost every trail, and some places that there were no trails. Her life was in the mountains.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Trevor, her sister Laura Busenius in Edmonton as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends still remaining in the Bow Valley.

Cremation has been completed and, at Helen's request, there will be no funeral services held.

The family wish to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Martha's Place.

It was Helen's wish that when friends and family remember her, they reach out and give someone a hug.
