Gwen Hewitt

Violet Gwendolyn Hewitt passed away April 27, 2012 - 4 days shy of her 96th birthday.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 72 years, Wes, and their three sons: Scott (Jennifer), Don (Valory), and Ken (Raylene), together with eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Gwen was born and raised in southern Alberta, and those formative years, that included the Great Depression, ultimately shaped her energetic outlook on life – always able to make the best of any situation. Early married life in Turner Valley was basic, and she worked hard to raise a family in the post-war period in Calgary. Later life was more relaxed as she and Wes travelled frequently in retirement, and enjoyed a healthy lifestyle in the Shuswap area before moving back to Canmore in the late 90's.

At her request, there will be no funeral service. If desired, donations may be made to the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation, 1100 Hospital Place. Canmore T1W 1N2 for use in the Canmore Hospital.
