"Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
It is with love and heavy hearts that we remember Glen Warner Jackson, a man whose life was defined by hard work, service to others, a heart of compassion, and unwavering faith in his Lord and Saviour.
Glen had an infectious smile and a wonderful sense of humour, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a Glen-sized hug to brighten any room. His joy and kindness were felt by all who knew him. Glen always took the time to stop and truly connect with people.
In 1956, Glen left the farm with his brother Harvey to work on the pipeline in Coaldale. A few years later, he moved to Banff to work on the Banff–Jasper Highway. There, among the mountains he so deeply adored, he met the love of his life, Sharon Lorraine Smith, with whom he built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion.
Glen was committed to making a positive impact in his community through his various careers. Whether working as a meat cutter at Safeway, a carpet installer, a milk delivery salesman, or a construction worker, he exemplified the spirit of service and diligence. Glen’s work ethic and passion were evident in everything he did, touching the lives of countless individuals.
Glen proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Banff Fire Department for 40 years. Even after retirement, he remained actively involved, offering support wherever needed. He considered his fellow firefighters’ family and was deeply honoured to be part of this brotherhood.
Glen was a devoted member of Banff Full Gospel Church and a steadfast servant leader with an unshakable faith in Jesus. He was known for his generosity, and his selfless nature defined him. His love for dogs, horses, and the mountains was unmistakable. Often, Glen could be found out for a drive with a cup of coffee, finding peace and solitude in the mountains he cherished.
Glen is survived by his wife Sharon and his daughters, Shelley (Alan) Foster of Red Deer, AB, and Jodi-Lyn (Mark) McCaw of Cochrane, AB. His pride in his family extended to his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who were the sparkle in his eyes: Courtney Foster and her children, Ryder and Jackson; Angela (nee Foster) and Kellen Haney, and their son, Linden; Amanda (nee McCaw) and Kingsley Enwemiwe, and their children, Jayla, Zayden, and Rayah; Brooke (née McCaw) Marcus and her son, Andrew; Ciara McCaw; and Carter McCaw. All remember him as a source of warmth, wisdom, and laughter.
Glen also leaves behind siblings and extended family, including his brother, Harvey (Marilyn) Jackson; his sister, Lorraine McLaren; and his brother-in-law, Ralph (Bernice) Smith; along with cousin-in-law David (Barb) Nudd. He is fondly remembered by nieces and nephews who adored him: Marian (nee Barr) and David Meredith; Donny McLaren; Terry McLearn; Darlene Corlazzoli and Gord; Melodee (nee Jackson) and David Little; Heather (nee Jackson) and Ryan Sheremeta; Sara (nee Smith) and Lance Tagg; and Margo Smith.
Glen’s legacy will continue through those he loved deeply, even as he now joins those who predeceased him, including his parents, Olive and Wes Jackson; his sister, Esther (nee Jackson) Stephens; and his nephew, Marvin Barr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 8, 2026, at Banff Full Gospel Church, located at 407 Cougar Street, Banff, Alberta, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather to honour the life of a remarkable man who brought joy and kindness to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
