It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Francois “Pierre” Ouellet, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend to so many. Pierre passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 surrounded by love, at the age of 71.
Pierre was the devoted husband and soulmate of Pam Ouellet. Together, they shared 29 beautiful years — 25 years of marriage and 4 unforgettable years before that — filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion to each other.
In addition to Pierre’s parents he was preceded in death by his niece Elizabeth Ryan.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his siblings and their children: Catherine Ouellet, Stephen (Linda) Ouellet and their children Christian and Alyssa, Michelle (Mike) Ryan and their son Jonathon, Jacquie Ouellet and her children Solange and Guylaine.
Pierre was a cherished and familiar face at the Fairmont Banff Springs, where he worked as a Bell Captain for over 25 years. His enthusiasm, professionalism, and warmth were unmatched. His team became more than colleagues; they were family. Pierre mentored countless bellmen over the years, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, leadership, and pride in service.
After many dedicated years at the hotel, Pierre continued to bring joy to those he met through his work at the Banff Springs Golf Course, where his friendly smile greeted guests daily. He shared his passion for the outdoors as a downhill ski instructor, a role he cherished. Pierre also started a pedicab business — yet another way he connected with people in the town he loved so much.
Pierre had a deep passion for the outdoors. An avid golfer, skier, and hiker, he found peace in the mountains he called home. He was known by so many in Banff and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Pierre also loved to travel. In the 1980s, he and “the boys” made some of their happiest memories vacationing in Hawaii. When he met Pam, they began a new tradition together, spending many wonderful years in Acapulco before eventually returning to Hawaii with their close friend group. More recently, Pierre and Pam enjoyed a couple of memorable trips to Europe together, creating yet another set of special adventures and shared stories. Those journeys — from Hawaii to Acapulco to Europe — were filled with sunshine, laughter, and the kind of moments that last a lifetime.
His presence will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit and the joy he brought to so many lives will live on forever.
A celebration of life will be held at the Fairmont Banff Springs 405 Spray Avenue Banff, AB, in the Alhambra Room on Sunday, January 25th, 2026 beginning at 1pm, followed by a reception. Please RSVP to pouelletrsvp@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
