Barry Potter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Potter on May 28, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born in Stettler, Alberta, to Ivor and Doris, Barry built a life defined by love, laughter, and lasting friendships. After meeting the love of his life, Susan, the two settled in Calgary before making their home in beautiful Canmore, Alberta.

Barry had an appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid golfer, and in his younger years, could be found both on the ski slopes and water skiing. He also cherished his time spent at the family condo in Las Vegas, which brought many special memories.

Above all, Barry's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to Susan, a proud father to Amanda and Steven (Mariane), and a loving grandfather to Beckam. He was also a cherished brother to Bryan (Kathy) and Blair (Liz). Barry’s warmth, humour, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.

Barry lived a life rich in connection, always putting others before himself and nurturing relationships that will be treasured for generations.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the management and staff at Origin at Spring Creek for their care and support of Barry.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the ALS Society of Alberta in Barry’s memory.

Though we can no longer hold you in our arms, we will carry you in our hearts forever.
