Akemi Hara-Ogle

Akemi Hara-Ogle passed away on September 11, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on April 10, 1962, Akemi will be remembered for her generous spirit, boundless energy, and deep dedication to those around her.

In her career with Stoney Nakoda Child and Family Services, she consistently went above and beyond for her clients and colleagues, bringing unmatched care and compassion to everything she did. A vibrant pillar of the Canmore community, Akemi gave her time tirelessly to local public events and volunteer initiatives, including the Canmore Food Recovery Barn, Canmore Food and Friends and Arts Place.

She was often found sharing joy and vitality at her favourite fitness classes at Elevation Place.

Her faith and fellowship at Grace Japanese Christian Church brought her profound friendship, community, and comfort throughout her life.

Akemi was predeceased by her father, Masao Hara.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her son, Dylan Ogle of Surrey, BC; her mother, Chiyoko Hara; her brother, Keiichiro Hara; and her sister, Takamayu Hara of Japan.

Her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched will deeply miss her warmth, dedication, and bright presence.
